Ophelia's flower's Symbolism


Crow flowers in the foreground symbolize ingratitude or childishness
The weeping willow leaning over Ophelia is said to be a symbol of forsaken love.
The nettles around the Willow's branches represent pain










The Daisies floating near Ophelia's right hand represents innocents. Daisies are also mentioned in the play. 









The purple Loosestrife on the upper right hand corner aulludes to 'long purples' in the play. However Shakesphere actually meant the purple orchid.
The pink roses near Ophelia's cheek are included for their symbolic meanings such as youth, love and beauty. also they may be included because of the reference in Act IV, Scene V when Laertes calls his sisters, 'rose of May'. 
The garlands of violets around Ophelia''s neck refer to Act IV, scene V. 'I would give you some violets, but they withered all when my father died: they say he made a good end'. Violets are a symbol of faithfulness and they can also symbolize chastity and death in the young.
The Meadowsweet flowers may signify the futility and lack on purpose of Ophelia's death.
The pale blue forget-me-nots on the river bank carry their meaning in their name.
The pansies that float on the dress represent thought and they can also mean love in vain.
Ophelia's sorrow is symbolised by the pheasant's eye floating near the pansies.
The fritillary ffloating between the dress and the wates edge also symbolise Ophelia's sorrow. 
The Vivid red poppy with its black seeds represents sleep and death.
